Another variation is to make your favourite crumble mix, and put on the top before you bake the cake.
APPLE CAKE

Ingredients
155g butter1tsp grated orange rind
1/2 cup plain flour
2 tbsp milk
2/3 cup castor sugar
1 cup self raising flour
3 eggs
2 granny smith (green) apples
Method:
Cream butter and sigar witn rind.Add eggs, one at a time.
Sift flours together and fold in alternatively with milk.
Pour into prepared round cake tin, top with apple slices.
Bake 60 mins at 180C, or until cake slightly comes in at the sides.
